Scott Swift is in recovery after undergoing heart surgery. Taylor Swift’s dad underwent quintuple bypass surgery over a month ago, the singer’s spokesperson confirmed to TMZ.

Scott’s wife, Andrea Swift, as well as Taylor and her brother, Austin, were by his side for the recovery process, the rep told the outlet. The 73-year-old’s surgery was not a result of a heart attack, but rather was scheduled after a doctor discovered the issue during a check up, the rep said.
Taylor’s rep added that Scott is “feeling just great” at present.
Taylor Swift’s Parents’ Health
Both Scott and Andrea have had their fair share of health issues over the years. In a 2019 essay for Elle, Taylor revealed that she’s “had to learn how to handle serious illness in my family.”
“Both of my parents have had cancer, and my mom is now fighting her battle with it again. It’s taught me that there are real problems and then there’s everything else. My mom’s cancer is a real problem,” she wrote. “I used to be so anxious about daily ups and downs. I give all of my worry, stress, and prayers to real problems now.”
Taylor recounted the challenging time in her song “Soon You’ll Get Better,” which appeared on her 2019 album, Lover. At the time, Taylor told iHeartRadio that the emotional ballad, which features The Chicks, “was hard to write, because it’s something that I’m going through right now.”
At a SiriusXM Town Hall around the same time, Taylor discussed the song in more detail.
“That’s a song I don’t know if I’ll ever play it live,” she said. “It’s just really difficult for me. It was hard to write. It’s hard to sing. It’s hard to listen to for me. But sometimes, music is like that. Sometimes it’s not just about stuff that was pleasant to feel.”
Despite the challenges of writing and singing the song, Taylor said during a YouTube live that “we as a family decided to put this on the album. It’s something I’m so proud of,”
“I can’t sing it,” she added. “It’s hard to emotionally deal with that song.”
Taylor did perform the track once. She played it during Global Citizen’s One World: Together at Home telecast amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
