The Who’s Pete Townshend shared in a recent interview that he and bandmate Roger Daltrey have agreed to do another tour in 2025. While official details about a new Who trek haven’t been unveiled yet, Daltrey has just announced plans for a brief U.K. tour with his solo band scheduled for the spring of next year.

The nine-date trek is mapped out from an April 20 concert in Brighton through a May 4 show in Manchester. The outing also will include stops in London, Wolverhampton, Glasgow, and Edinburgh
The tour, which has been dubbed “Alive and Kicking … and Having Fun!,” will feature the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer performing with the same group of musicians that accompanied him on his 2024 North American trek.
Like the singer’s 2024 tour, the new shows will feature Roger and his group performing acoustic and semi-acoustic arrangements of songs by The Who, tunes from his solo career, and select covers. The concerts also will include interludes where Daltrey answers questions submitted by fans.
“Here we go again!” Daltrey said in a statement. “After touring the U.S. with this band of phenomenal musicians, I can’t wait to get back on the road in the UK with these shows. It’s a joy to be on stage performing—up close and personal for the audience, chatting with them and playing familiar songs in an unfamiliar way.”
Tickets for the concerts will go on sale to the general public on Friday, November 15, at 10 a.m. local time. Pre-sale tickets also will be available. Fans interested in early access to tickets may want to visit StubHub.
New Interview with Daltrey About the U.K. Solo Tour
In a new interview with the Press Association, Daltrey explained that a motivating factor in hitting the road again with his solo band is to help keep is voice in shape for touring with The Who.
“[The Who’s] music is very, very different than most rock music, we should keep doing it,” Roger maintained. “To do that, I have to keep singing in the breaks between two shows, because those breaks can be quite long, and without using the human voice, it’ll disappear.”
Daltrey also discussed the unique way he’s been approaching performing the material featured in his solo concerts.
“I just thought I love exploring the music, even though they’re songs that I’ve sung for 50 years,” he noted. “I love exploring different ways of approaching them and doing them, because you constantly find more in them.”
He continued, “It has an effect on an audience that makes them perhaps consider the song again for the first time. … I find it’s really joyful to do, when it works, it’s heaven, when it doesn’t work, it’s a laugh.”
Roger also insisted that “The Who aren’t finished yet.” The 80-year-old rock legend added, “I feel that I’m singing possibly better than I have for years.”
About Daltrey’s Touring Band
Daltrey will be joined on his solo tour by a group featuring nine musicians. They include three members of The Who’s current touring band—Simon Townshend (Pete’s younger brother) on guitar and backing vocals, Billy Nicholls on backing vocals, and Katy Jacoby on violin.
Rounding out Roger’s band are bassist John Hogg, guitarist Doug Boyle, percussionist Jody Linscott, keyboardist Geraint Watkins, drummer Scott Devours, and harmonica player Steve Weston.
