Watch Lainey Wilson React to NSFW Sign at North Carolina Show: “Y’all Ain’t Right”

Being on the road so much, Lainey Wilson has witnessed some truly extreme examples of human behavior. The “Hang Tight Honey” singer has previously opened up about how she handled a fan spitting on her as she performed at a show last year. And during a recent stop in North Carolina, Wilson found herself reading a sign with a very… creative message from a fan.

“These Signs Y’all Come Up With”

Audience interaction has always been an integral part of Lainey Wilson’s shows. The ACM’s reigning Entertainer of the Year makes it a point to scan the crowd for signs and respond to her favorites.

Repeating this ritual during an Oct. 20 show at the Live Oak Bank Pavilion in Wilmington, North Carolina, Wilson spotted a man sporting a cowboy hat holding up a bright yellow sign.

“Lainey, [you’re] #1 on my list!! My wife gave me a hall pass,” the “Watermelon Moonshine” singer read out loud.

For the uninitiated, here’s what Dictionary.com says about hall passes.

“These signs y’all come up with,” Wilson said over the crowd’s laughter. “Y’all ain’t right.”

TikTok user @hannahblaylock5 captured the moment on film and shared the video to social media. “Duck Hodges you better watch out,” she wrote in the caption, referring to Wilson’s boyfriend. “All the men love Lainey Wilson my boyfriend included.”

To his credit, Hodges appeared to take the incident in stride. The ex-Pittsburgh Steeler commented three cry-laughing emojis on Blaylock’s TikTok post.

One Instagram user noted that Wilson seemed slightly uncomfortable, commenting, “As she runs away.”

Lainey Wilson Is Everywhere

The 58th annual Country Music Association Awards are set for Wednesday, Nov. 20. That’s when Lainey Wilson will learn whether she beat out Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen for CMA’s 2024 Entertainer of the Year.

Although country star Kelsea Ballerini concedes that no one can touch Stapleton vocally, the “Cowboys Cry Too” singer seems to think Wilson is the most well-rounded entertainer.

“[To me, Entertainer of the Year is someone who is touring, is the most visible, being everywhere, showing up for the genre …” Ballerini told Taste of Country Nights. “And if we’re looking at that, it’s Lainey (Wilson.)”
