Back in 2023, country legend Willie Nelson once shared a beautiful duet with his daughter, Paul Nelson. The father-daughter duo performed โSlow Down Old Worldโ from Willieโs famed 1973 album Shotgun Willie.
In the video footage for the rerecording, Paula and Willie Nelson can be seen in the studio together. Itโs a simple, black-and-white promotional video that captures the essence of both artists in a stripped-down, intimate manner. Paula is a talented singer in her own way, and Willie Nelsonโs classic style compliments her quite well.

Thereโs something so special about this rerecording of a Willie Nelson classic. Both Nelson and his daughterโs voice harmonize so beautifully on this track. Paula has also said in the past that โSlow Down Old Worldโ was one of her favorite songs to date.
โThe melody is incredibly moving, the lyrics bring out a variety of emotions, and together, they create a song you just canโt get enough of,โ Paula once said of โSlow Down Old Worldโ. โRecording this with my dad is so special because itโs his song, so I knew already how much it meant to him.โ
The pair have also collaborated together on other songs as well. One famous example would be a duet cover of Creedence Clearwater Revivalโs famous 1971 song โHave You Ever Seen The Rain?โ
Willie Nelson Has Quite A Musical Family
Paula Nelson is just one of seven children, most of which are involved in music in one shape or another. Paula is Nelsonโs third-oldest daughter shared with Connie Koepke. Sheโs enjoyed quite a lucrative music career and was named Female Artist of the Year in 2016 by the Country Music Association of Texas.
Nelson also famously tours with his son, Lukas, who is the frontman of Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real. Lukas and Willie perform together often, and Lukas famously covered a number of Willieโs songs during his absence from the launch of his 2024 Outlaw Festival Tour. Nelsonโs daughters Susie and Amy have worked as musicians at various points in their lives. His son Micah and his late son Billy were both involved in music throughout their lives as well.
