Exclusive: Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood Ready Duet Version of “Cry Myself to Sleep”

Wynonna Judd and Trisha Yearwood are teaming up for a powerful new rendition of The Judds‘ “Cry Myself to Sleep.” Set for release this Friday (September 29), the collaboration is one of 14 covers featured on A Tribute to The Judds, due out on October 27 via BMG.

The all-star album is being released in celebration of the record-breaking country duo’s 40th anniversary. Cactus Moser, celebrated musician and Judd’s husband of eleven years, serves as producer on the pair’s upcoming duet, which spotlights both country artists’ rich, flawless vocals behind a groovy, percussion and guitar-driven soundscape. “Cry Myself to Sleep” was included on The Judds’ platinum-selling album Rockin’ with the Rhythm and became their eighth No. 1 hit in 1987.

Although they’ve been friends for many years, the project allowed Judd and Yearwood the opportunity to finally go into the studio together for the first time, fulfilling a longtime dream for both talents.

“I was absolutely delighted when Trisha showed up at the studio on the farm to record ‘Cry Myself to Sleep’ with me,” Judd tells American Songwriter in a statement. “We have known each other for years but have never worked together. In today’s world of technology, artists often don’t get to be in the same room as the other person to record a song. It was so refreshing! I am thrilled with the song, and I cannot wait to sing it live with her.”

“Getting to be a part of celebrating The Judds’ music is such an honor,” Yearwood adds. “I’m a true fan, and singing with Wynonna has been a dream come true! I’m proud to be a part of honoring the music that Naomi and Wynonna created.”
