In addition to their music, Mötley Crüe’s notoriety has come from their high-flying debauchery and antics. However, that kind of lifestyle doesn’t come without its cons, and its members experienced the full extent of the cons in question. One former member of the band who recently opened up about those cons was the temporary lead vocalist, John Corabi.

Corabi joined Mötley Crüe in 1992 after founding lead vocalist, Vince Neil left the band due to his heavy drinking and race-car career. John Corabi acted as Mötley Crüe’s lead singer between 1992 and 1996. However, in 96, Corabi was fired and Neil came back from his hiatus and took over his rightful position. Even though Corabi only spent four years with the band, he still had quite a lot of grievances to air.

Corabi recently appeared on the YouTube show Rock Daydream Nation and opened up about his stint with the band and the story behind his firing. Corabi’s time with Mötley Crüe was jam-packed with drama, rumors, and seemingly, petty band feuds he wanted no part of.
In the interview, Corabi stated, “There was so much drama in that band and turmoil.” Specifically, Corabi remembers the constant gossiping that would go on among the band members. He recalled that when he would sit down with individual band members, they would reportedly just talk about the other members and all their downfalls. In retrospect, Corabi stated, “I was, like, ‘Oh my God. It’s impossible to keep up with all this b—.”
Given the drama being part of the band entailed, Corabi was relieved when he was let go. He was upset about being fired, however, he realized his life without Mötley Crüe would be far more peaceful. “So when they told me, ‘Hey, dude, Vince is coming back,’ I was bummed. But like I said, it felt like someone took a 300-pound man off my shoulders.” Corabi might have earned the opportunity of a lifetime by performing with Mötley Crüe, although, to him, the gray hairs that followed weren’t worth it.
