Metallica released their sixth album, Load, in June 1996. It was a massive hit, topping charts in countries around the globe. Earlier today (April 29), the band announced a remastered version of the album is coming this summer. Fans will be able to choose between vinyl, CD, cassette, or digital versions of the album. Additionally, the band is offering a box set featuring demos, rarities, live performances, video footage, exclusive merch, and much more.

Load (Remastered) hits record store shelves and digital platforms on June 13. Fans can pre-order all formats of the reissue from the Metallica website now. The remastered version of the multi-platinum album will be available in standard black 180g vinyl 2LP, CD. Cassette, and digital. A Spatial Audio mix created using Atmos will also be available. Metallica is offering fans incentives to order their copies early. Those who pre-order will have access to advance downloads of remastered tracks and rarities.

The expanded physical versions and the deluxe digital version of Load will contain the extended version of “The Outlaw Torn.” The song was originally shortened due to the CD format’s time constraints.
What’s in the New Metallica Box Set?
The remastered album is great, but hardcore Metallica fans will likely want to opt for the box set. Hailed as an “ambitious and comprehensive time capsule of 1995-1996 era Metallica,” the box is packed with exclusives including demos, live audio and video recordings, TV appearances, and much more.
The box features the remastered version of Load on 180g vinyl, a “Mama Said” picture disc, and Loadapalooza ’96. The latter is a 3LP live album recorded during Metallica’s headlining set at Lollapalooza in 1996, pressed on 140g vinyl.
