In celebration of their tenth anniversary, the K-pop sensations have released “Take Two.” The bilingual track serves as the introduction to their “second chapter,” after a decade-long career.
BTS surprised the ARMY with the anthem on Friday (June 9), just days before their celebratory FESTA event in Seoul, South Korea. Their latest release is a thank you letter to their devoted fans, who have displayed their support since their debut in 2013.
The chart-topping group took a unique approach to spring the track upon their listeners. BTS teased “Take Two” with a series of snapshots from each member’s “memorable spot.” They shared the easter eggs via Instagram stories, displaying picturesque moments that convey – ‘LIGHT,’ ‘BEGIN,’ ‘SOUL,’ ‘TOGETHER,’ ‘FACE,’ ‘YOUNG,’ or ‘STAY,” which are snippets of the lyrics.
SUGA – born Min Yoon-gi – had a hand in the overall production of the track, while RM and J-hope tackled the songwriting portion. The stadium-ready anthem is far different from their typical releases – a tender melody driven by an acoustic guitar but intertwined with their recognizable wordplay.
“Take Two” comes on the heels of “THE Planet,” a theme song for a Korean animated series titled, Bastions. The finger-snapping tune marked their first release since their indefinite hiatus nearly a year ago. Since the announcement that left the ARMY in pure shock, Jin and J-Hop have begun their “mandatory service” with the South Korean military. Rm, Jimin, and Suga have all focused on their solo careers. Suga recently released D-Day, his debut solo album under his alter-ego Agust D.
BTS did not reveal any additional information about their plans, and whether or not they will be releasing more music in the near future. Until then, the platinum-selling group will be celebrating their milestone birthday at their event on June 17.
The affair, which coincides with the group’s debut (June 13, 2013), will be open to the public and take place at Yeouido Park in South Korea.
BTS entered the scene with their album, 2 Cool 4 Skool. The seven-song tracklist includes “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2,” “Like,” “Interlude,” and the breakout single “No More Dream.” Upon release, the Korean track hit No. 14 on the World Digital Song Sales chart, setting the men up for success. The seven members—Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are now one of the biggest boy bands in the world.
