Drake Hit by Phone During Opening Night of His Tour

During the first night of Drake‘s It’s All a Blur Tour, which also features 21 Savage, the rapper was stuck by a phone when a concertgoer threw the device onstage. This occurrence follows a dangerous and inappropriate trend that finds fans throwing various objects at musicians while they play live shows.

Video footage of Drake encountering the flying phone was posted to TikTok and has currently garnered over 59k views. The video shows the artist performing Ginuwine’s song “So Anxious” when a phone is seen soaring through the crowd and onto the stage. The phone lightly hits Drake’s torso, but he seems unphased after staring into the distance for a beat.

In the past few months, multiple artists have been struck by objects thrown onto the stage by fans. In June, Bebe Rexha suffered a black eye and had to receive stitches on her face after a man threw a phone at her face, and told police that he “thought it would be funny.” One fan recently tossed a bag containing their own mother’s ashes onto the stage of a Pink concert, with the singer saying, “Is this your mom? I’m not sure how I feel about this.”

Country singer Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the face by a small object while playing a show at Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden. After the incident, she addressed the audience, saying, “Can we just talk about what just happened. All I care about is keeping everyone safe. Don’t throw things. You know? I always want shows of mine—every show for every artist, but I’m in control of this one—I want it to be a safe place for everyone. We have little kids here, and can you help me do that tonight?”

During a recent concert at The Colosseum in Las Vegas, Adele addressed the ridiculous trend. The “Easy on Me” singer told the audience, “Have you noticed how people are forgetting f—ing show etiquette at the moment. People are throwing s— on stage. Have you seen that? I f—ing dare you — I dare you throw something at me. I’ll f—ing kill you.”
