Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ New Tonight? Host & Musical Guest (5/3/25)

Back on April 12th, Jon Hamm and Lizzo took over Saturday Night Live as the host and musical guest for the evening. Although a hilarious episode featuring some interesting medication ads and the ongoing task of ordering the right food, it also marked the last episode to air. For the past several weeks, Studio 8H remained silent as the cast and crew spent some time away. But with a new month, it seems that the cast is back and ready to go as a new episode is expected to air that will kick off the final three episodes.

Celebrating SNL’s 50th anniversary, Lorne Michaels pulled out all the stops throughout the season. Besides the massive 50th anniversary special, the season featured a slew of talented hosts like Dave Chappelle, Shane Gillis, Lady Gaga, Jack Black, and performances by Elton John. But on Saturday, actor and comedian Quinta Brunson will take over hosting duties with Benson Boone filling in as the musical guest.

Benson Boone Backflips Into ‘Saturday Night Live’

Giving fans a taste of what to expect, Brunson and cast member Sarah Sherman encouraged fans to tune in. But when wondering where Boone was, the singer jumped into frame with a backflip. Becoming a signature move for the singer, Sherman believed that a backflip wasn’t that hard to perform. But when she tried to do it herself, she ended up on her back with a medical professional trying to help her.

Already gaining over 160,000 views, fans appeared excited for the new SNL episode with comments reading, “I’m so excited for Benson to be on SNL!!!! I’ve been waiting for this day my whole life! His smile was so cute when he entered.” Another person added, “He’s light in the feet, heavy in talent.  Much love, from your fan in Washington state.  Just don’t overdo it, honey, and hurt your joints.”

Outside of Brunson and Boone showcasing their talents on SNL, there are only three episodes left in Season 50. Already releasing the lineup for the final episodes, next week, Walton Goggins will host with Arcade Fire performing. And on May 17th, SNL will close out the season with musical guest Bad Bunny and Hollywood star Scarlett Johansson.

Don’t miss a new episode of Saturday Night Live, airing live at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
