Kelly Clarkson was a 21-year-old struggling artist when she auditioned for the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002. She walked away as the show’s first winner, catapulting her to fame and kickstarting a career that would eventually see her sell more than 82 million records globally. These days, you can mostly find the “Stronger” singer helming her Emmy-winning program The Kelly Clarkson Show. However, Clarkson, 42, recently took to social media to tease new music.

A New Kelly Clarkson Song Is Coming “Soon”
Apart from last year’s holiday hit “You For Christmas,” Kelly Clarkson hasn’t released new music since 2023’s Chemistry. That’s about to change.
On Friday (April 18), the “Since U Been Gone” singer revealed in an Instagram post that her next song is called “Where Have You Been.” The caption read simply, tantalizingly, “Soon…”
Even without a release date, Clarkson’s post sparked excitement among her fans. “We’ve been waiting is where we’ve been! Lfgggggg!” one Instagram user wrote.
Another fan added, “OK BUT HOW SOON!?”
She Has Her Own Record Label Now
The news comes on the heels of Kelly Clarkson’s latest musical endeavor. The “Since U Been Gone” singer announced during a January episode of her talk show that she had recently launched her own independent record label.
“I just now started my own label and I’m putting out my own stuff,” Clarkson told singer-actress Keke Palmer. “And I’ve had some good teams, like, to work with, but there is nothing like being that 10-year-old again and being excited and nobody saying ‘Oh, you should do this’ and ‘You should do this.’”
The Emmy winner added, “I feel like I’ve earned it, so I’m excited. I think I’ve earned the moment.”
After her American Idol victory in 2002, Clarkson signed a record deal with RCA. She released seven albums before leaving for Atlantic Records in 2016.
The “Because Of You” songstress also opened up to Palmer about the difficulties of running your own label. “I’m putting together a music video, and I’m like, ‘Wait, I forgot to do what?’” Clarkson said. ” I started writing, and I was like, ‘Wait, how do I put this out now?’ And then, I was like ‘Well, I guess through me.’”
