Kim Petras Teams Up with Nicki Minaj for ’90 Inspired Bop “Alone”

Kim Petras is adding another buzzy collaboration to her belt following her Grammy-winning duet with Sam Smith, “Unholy.” This time, Petras has teamed up with Nicki Minaj for a play on Alice Deejay’s 1998 release “Better Off Alone.”

The collaboration, “Alone,” opens up with the synth riff in Deejay’s hit before Petras comes in with the line I’ve been tryna give it to you all night / What’s it gonna take to get you all alone? / I just want you here by my side / I don’t wanna be here, baby, on my own.

Minaj brings her signature flow to the song about halfway through. The “Red Ruby Da Sleeze” rapper takes the braggadocious route, leaning into her main character syndrome.

I set trends from Queens to Beijing / I’m not the one that do the imitating / Puff, puff, pass, ’cause you know we blazing / When I put it on him, he say, “It’s amazing” / All this cake, he doing a tasting / I send shots, get ready, they may sting, she rattles off in her verse.

Petras continues her string of empowered hits with “Alone.” Petras was recently honored at the Billboard Women in Music Awards alongside Becky G, Doechii, Ivy Queen, Kim Petras, Latto, Lainey Wilson, Lana Del Rey, and TWICE. Petras accepted the Chartbreaker Award for her trailblazing efforts in pop.

At the Grammy’s, Petras made history by being the first transgender woman to win in a major category. Petras earned the honor alongside Smith for “Unholy.”

Petras also recently hopped on the remix of Meghan Trainor’s “Made You Look.”

“I had ‘Made You Look’ stuck in my head for months,” Petras said earlier this year. “It’s just so catchy and I felt like the song was like a warm hug. So I loved it right away, and then when I got asked to jump on it, I was really, really excited.”
