Lil Durk’s upcoming studio album The Voice 2.0 is likely going to drop in the next few weeks. Recently, he announced that the album is finished and submitted for release, along with hinting that features from SZA and J. Cole could be on it.
In preparation for the LP’s arrival, which will be his eighth overall solo album and the sequel to The Voice (2020), Durk sat down with XXL for their 2023 spring cover story, where he spoke on a wide array of topics. Along with confirming that a J. Cole-assisted song titled “All My Life” will be on the 2.0 track list, he also alluded to a joint album with Future that he would release after his solo effort.

“Me and Future got a thousand songs together,” he told XXL. “We talked about it one day in the studio, about doing a collab album. Just going crazy, dropping, dropping, dropping. And from that studio session, everybody knew about it. We gonโ make it happen.”
While he does not have an official plan for when and how they will put it out, Durk said his tape with Future is inevitable at this point.
“Something Iโm definitely gonna do,” he continued. “I wonโt put a timeline on it. Itโs something we gonโ do for the culture. Outside of the music, our bond, you know, we been locked in. He always been giving game. Since the beginning, beginning. My older brother passed, DThang, they was super close, so we got history together. Thatโs why I say the culture move would be like, ‘Damn, thatโs hard.’”
Earlier in his conversation with XXL, he also spoke about a potential collaborative album with producer Metro Boomin, which would be titled No Auto Durk. Rumored to be in the works for the past few years, Durk said he wants the timing to be right for No Auto Durk to actually happen and wants to make sure it meets his standards.
“Yeah, thatโs something me and Metro definitely talked about,” he said. “And โtil this day we talk about it. You never know. I just really put a lot of thought into a lot of stuff now where itโs like, could this work? Could this not work? With Metro, he one of the producers thatโs gonโ tell you anyway. I donโt want a bunch of yes men around. Want muthaf**ka tell you, ‘Thatโs weak’ or ‘That s**t ass.’”
As of now, though, Durk and Metro’s plates are both full. While the former works on rolling out his impending album, still without a release date, the latter is fresh off putting out his stellar LP Heroes & Villains in December. Additionally, Metro also has joint projects on the way with J.I.D. and Future.
So, it may take some time for Durk to be able to connect with Future and Metro to finalize these separate endeavors. But, at this particular juncture, both of those seem like strong possibilities.
