Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey is taking up the rhinestone jumpsuit and voicing the hunka hunka burnin‘ star in a new adult animated series from Netflix. Produced by the late artist’s ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, and written by Archer writer, Mike Arnold, Agent Elvis will follow the singer-turned-loose cannon secret agent on fictional missions full of explosions, fight scenes, and the occasional jet pack.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, McConaughey will also act as the show’s executive producer alongside Kevin Noel, Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, Ben Kalina, Jamie Salter, Corey Salter and Marc Rosen. The series is set to premiere on the platform in March. Check out the official teaser for Agent Elvis below.

Ahead of portraying The King, McConaughey kickstarted his own music career, having given songwriting a go in the fall of 2022.

In partnership with the University of Texas at Austin’s Moody Center, a multi-purpose arena and home to the school’s men’s and women’s basketball programs, the Dallas Buyers Club actor and UT Austin alum crafted a spirited fight tune, titled “Bless The Mood.”

Along with the Agent Elvis series, this year will also see another Presley-adjacent project come to life. Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola is set to helm the forthcoming screen adaptation of Priscilla Prelsey’s 1985 memoir, Elvis and Me.

The couple was married from 1967 to 1973. After the King’s death in 1977, it was Priscilla who worked to establish Elvis Presley Enterprises and made Elvis’ famed Memphis mansion and final resting place, Graceland, the tourist destination it is today.

Little is known about the upcoming film, but it will most likely detail the couple’s marriage and life together with the wife-turned-businesswoman-and-actress at the center.
