Polo G Arrested After Police Raid at Los Angeles Home

Hours after the Los Angeles Police Department raided Polo G’s L.A. home to conduct a search on Wednesday (August 23), he and his brother were both arrested by officers from the Burbank Police Department. According to a statement from BPD obtained by XXL, Polo, whose legal name is Taurus Bartlett, was arrested along with his brother Taurean Bartlett, who goes by Trench Baby, for kidnapping, robbery, and assault charges unrelated to LAPD’s search warrant.

“Last night, Mr. Taurus Bartlett and his brother, Mr. Taurean Bartlett, were arrested and booked on kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon charges,” the statement read. “The charges stem from a report filed in April of this year in which Taurus and Taurean Bartlett were listed as suspects.”

After being booked around 10:30 p.m. local time, Polo and his brother ended up posting bail and being released around 4:30 a.m. this morning (August 24).

“Once Mr. Taurus and Taurean Bartlett were released from LAPD’s custody on unrelated charges, Burbank PD investigators were standing by to take them into custody on the Burbank case,” the statement from BPD added. “They were taken into custody without incident and have since been released on $100,000 bail. Formal charges are pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.”

As alluded to above, Polo, along with three other friends who were at his house, was placed in handcuffs in the custody of the LAPD earlier in the day Wednesday. Suspecting that Polo was harboring Trench Baby in the house, who was a suspect in a nearby robbery case, officers kept Polo under their watch for hours while they carried out the search.

“Polo is being held under the guise that the police department needs to double check that he is not a convicted felon as there was a purported firearm found in the home,” the rapper’s attorney Bradford Cohen told TMZ at the time. “He is not and never was a convicted felon. Any previous charges he had got dismissed and it’s all public record. They are also denying myself and my California law partner Zoe Aron access to him while he is being illegally detained.”

Though it seems like he is in the clear for the LAPD case now, Polo has a hearing on October 26 for the BPD charges. On top of him and his brother posting bail at the Burbank police station, Trench Baby also posted another $100,000 bail at LAPD for the initial robbery case.

Currently, Polo G is gearing up to release his fourth studio album Hood Poet on September 15. Last Friday (August 18), he dropped the LP’s second promotional single “Barely Holdin’ On,” which has already racked up over 4 million Spotify streams.
