We’ve now approached July, practically the midway point of summer, and Travis Scott’s fourth studio album Utopia is still not here. For months now, the Houston-born rap icon has been teasing the LP in multiple different ways, whether it be his “Utopia” labeled briefcase, erecting billboards in Los Angeles, or playing the album in full for professional athletes like Tom Brady and Kevin Durant.

Now, though, the next tactic in Scott’s album rollout could potentially see him involved in the Great Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. On Friday morning (July 7), Egyptian news outlet Cairo Scene published-then-deleted a story that claimed Scott was set to host an album party at the site of the pyramids on July 25.
In the article, Cairo Scene reported that Live Nation will organize the event, less than two years after they were notoriously responsible for putting together Scott’s Astroworld Festival that ended in tragic fatalities. Additionally, the story mentioned how concerts from the Backstreet Boys and events like a Dior fashion show have both occurred at the pyramids within the last year, setting the stage for Scott’s Utopia party.
It’s currently unclear why Cairo Scene decided to take down their report. But, with this potential added context, it now seems incredibly likely that Scott’s album would come either the week before his “album party,” or the week of. When placing billboards throughout LA in late June, multiple different designs Scott used alluded to Utopia‘s release date being July 21, which happens to be the Friday before his unconfirmed party at the pyramids.
To further support Scott’s Egypt plans, his latest sneaker design as a part of his shoe deal with Nike has the word “Utopia” written on the tongue of the shoe in hieroglyphics. Scott has not elaborated on his affinity for Egypt or the pyramids publicly, but as we’ve learned in recent weeks regarding his Utopia rollout, it’s clear the emcee prefers to move in silence.
While the Utopia track list has yet to be finalized, superstar acts like Bad Bunny and The Weeknd are both expected to make guest appearances on the long-awaited project.
