“It’s about our fans, honestly. Or the idea of a crowd and being able to play for a crowd or having the attention of an audience,” frontman Evan Felker says in a statement. “It’s sort of a thank you to people who stuck with us through this. The fact we get to come back and play for these amazing crowds that are thousands and thousands of people singing along? It’s an expression of gratitude.”

Oh now, it still beats steady / This heart I handed you for free Should you ever need a thing / It won’t be hard to find me / Standing at the ready / With a dance or two still left in me / Wager that it won’t appear / That I forgot who brought me.

“Brought Me” is the third pre-release single from the band’s long-awaited comeback album, set for release on August 24. Produced by Shooter Jennings, Cat In the Rain is the first full-length record from Felker and his bandmates, Kyle Nix (fiddle), Ryan Engleman (electric guitar), RC Edwards (bass), Gabe Pearson (drums) and Hank Early (steel/accordion), since they went on an indefinite hiatus in 2019.

In 2022, following months of speculation and rumors about a possible reunion, Turnpike Troubadours announced they were hard at work on their follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed A Long Way From Your Heart.

The band has performed a stretch of headlining shows and festival appearances across the U.S. in recent months and is gearing up for three sold-out nights at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium later this year.
