Last Friday (August 9), Brooks & Dunn headlined the first-ever XRoads41 Music Festival in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. During their hit-packed set, they invited Jon Pardi to the stage to perform “My Next Broken Heart” to finish their set.
Brooks & Dunn shared a clip of their electric performance with Pardi on social media yesterday (August 13). “California Pard, Jon Pardi did a welcomed wal-on and sang ‘My Next Broken Heart’ with us Friday night,” they wrote in the post.

The clip shows the trio performing the song’s final chorus. After finishing the song, an excited Pardi says it was the first time “in like three years” that they’ve performed the song together. Then, he addressed the crowd, saying, “Brooks & Dunn everybody! This is a dream come true right here. Wisconsin, we love you! Goodnight!”
Jon Pardi Joined Brooks & Dunn for “My Next Broken Heart” on Reboot
Co-penned by Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn, and Don Cook, “My Next Broken Heart” was the second single from the duo’s debut album Brand New Man. It was also their second consecutive No. 1 single. The duo went on to release massive song after massive song throughout the ’90s. However, this one stuck with Jon Pardi.

In 2019, Brooks & Dunn enlisted several of today’s top country singers to record the collaborative album, Reboot. The album saw the duo teaming up with younger talent to cover a dozen of their hits. Pardi, Luke Combs, Brett Young, Ashley McBryde, Cody Johnson, and more artists signed up to record with the ‘90s country icons.
Released in April 2019, Reboot peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart as well as the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart.
Speaking to the duo, Pardi revealed why he chose “My Next Broken Heart” over the other hit songs in their catalog. “Y’all have such massive songs and I was like, ‘ Man, I want to do some of that older stuff,’” he said. “I always remembered the feel of ‘My Next Broken Heart’ and I love honky tonk music so I thought it was a good pick,” he added.
