Last year, Sammy Hagar announced that he would take his Best of All Worlds Tour to the Dolby Live venue at the Park MGM Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The nine-night residency kicks off on April 30 and will give a look at the future of the Red Rocker’s career.

At 77 years old, Hagar has been rocking crowds of varying sizes around the world for more than 50 years. Now, though, he’s looking to balance his desire to perform and his growing distaste for being on the road. He spoke about his plans for the future in a recent interview with The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Sammy Hagar Doesn’t Want to Tour Anymore
“I don’t think I want to go on tour anymore,” Sammy Hagar told the publication. “I hate to say that because I don’t want to piss my fans off,” he added. However, he has to weigh the fans’ reaction against what is best for him.
While Hagar doesn’t want to tour anymore, he still wants to perform. “I’ll go out and do a one-off show and do things like that, but the residency is going to give me a good extension of my career. That’s what I’m hoping for,” he explained. Playing residencies will allow him to find the balance between being comfortable and rocking crowds.
“With this, I don’t have to travel. I don’t have to unpack and pack and get on an airplane every day,” he said. “You know, at my age, it hurts my shoulders to do all this and I have to perform. I’m a performer, at the end of the day.”
While his forthcoming residency at Dolby Live seems like the perfect solution for Hagar, his future rests on how it plays out. “If I like it enough, I’ll do another one. And if that’s successful, I’ll do another one, and I can squeeze a few more years out of my career,” he said.
Hagar then explained what “successful” means to him. “If I bring home what I’m going to try to do, it’s for people to leave my shows now with the warmest, happiest feeling. This is about the right lyrics, the right performance, to feel the love,” he said. “I want them to feel it, feel it, feel it.”
