From an early age, Megan Moroney grew up surrounded by music. Nurturing a love for country, she eventually taught herself how to play the piano. Although looking to explore a different career path, she eventually found her way to the stage with hits like “No Caller ID” and “Sad Songs for Sad People.” Not only proving the power in her voice but also her gift as a songwriter, Moroney quickly gained a faithful following. Just last month, she released her second studio album with Am I Okay? And speaking of being okay, the singer struggled through a recent performance of her new song “Beautiful Things” when sharing how her niece helped inspire her.

Watching not just her career grow, but also her family, Moroney took a different approach at her recent concert. Although having a nephew, she admitted there was “something different about seeing a little girl.” Welcoming a niece into the family, the singer quickly recalled her own childhood and the challenges she faced, like heartbreak. “Oh my God, maybe someone won’t invite her to a party or something.” She continued, “She is inevitably going to get her heart broken one day.”
Megan Moroney Promises “The World Is Hard On Beautiful Things”
Wanting to be there for her, Moroney decided to use her talents to help guide her niece whenever that time came. “I have to write a song so that she can listen to that when it happens, so she can feel no sadness ever.” Looking to the future and becoming a mom herself, she promised, “I am going to be a nightmare of a mom.”
Although Moroney’s niece still had some years to go before dealing with the realities of the world, fans in attendance received a special performance of “Beautiful Things.” And showing just how important the song was to her, Moroney could barely keep it together. Especially when the lyrics included, “Honey just take it from me, the world is hard on beautiful things.”
While an emotional moment for Moroney, fans surrounded her with support. “I love this. Her songs are so good and have such meaning.” For one fan, she revealed how much the singer helped her. “I don’t think she understands how healing all of her music has been for teenage girls. IDK that I would have made it through the last couple of years without her.”
While written for her niece, it seemed that Moroney’s “Beautiful Things” helped more than her new family member.
