The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie Recruit The Beths, Car Seat Headrest for Commemorative Vinyl Release

The Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie are marking the end of their 20th anniversary co-headlining tour with a new 7″ vinyl release. Announced today (October 12), the two-song limited pressing featuring covers of two fan-favorite tracks will be available on January 12, 2024.

Side A of the single features a playful rendition of The Postal Service track “Brand New Colony,” performed by The Beths. The New Zealand indie rock group are also serving as support on select dates of the bands’ ongoing tour, including their October 13 show in Los Angeles. The Beths also recruited fellow New Zealand-based artist and producer Pickle Darling, who provides instrumental accompaniment on the song.

Fellow alt-rock hitmaker Car Seat Headrest‘s take on Death Cab for Cutie’s Transatlanticism cut “We Looked Like Giants” is featured on Side B of the single. Driven by a rolling bass line, punchy percussion, and grooving electric guitar riffs, Car Seat Headrest brings a gritty rock and roll perspective to the rhythmic indie classic.
