The Rolling Stones Countdown to ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ Possible Track List Revealed

The Rolling Stones have set a countdown clock ticking down to the alleged release of their 24th album Hackney Diamonds. The clock appears on the landing page of the website HackneyDiamonds.com, and the band’s official website, and is due to expire at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday (September 6).

Hackney Diamonds is expected to be the band’s first album of new material since A Bigger Bang in 2005. It also will mark their first release without founding drummer Charlie Watts, who died in 2021 prior to the band’s 60th-anniversary tour.

News of Hackney Diamonds first broke on Wednesday (August 23), when an advertisement appeared in the Hackney Gazette. The ad marketed “specialists in glass repair,” but looked more like a Rolling Stones release upon closer inspection.

Featuring the band’s iconic tongue logo, the language used in the ad also referenced three of the Rolling Stones’ classic songs “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,” “Gimme Shelter” and “Shattered.” The font used in the advertisement is also similar to that used on the band’s 1978 album Some Girls.

The Hackney Diamonds website also features a registration that cites Universal Music Group, which handles the band’s back catalog, within the conditions.

On Tuesday (August 29), the band also shared a post on their social media channels with the caption “Hello World,” along with a link to the website and photos showing the Rolling Stones lips logo in cities worldwide, which may hint at an upcoming tour to support the album.

In January 2023, Richards shared a 15-second video and confirmed that the band had new music to share. “Hi guys, here we are again,” said Richards. “There is some new music on the way and hopefully, we’ll get to see you. Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed.”

For the album, the Rolling Stones have also reportedly tapped former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. Former Stones bassist Bill Wyman has also reportedly reunited with the band in the studio to work on one of the tracks.

A list of 12 song titles, credited to Richards and Jagger were also reportedly registered recently for Hackney Diamonds, along with producer Andrew Watt, who has also been linked to the project as its producer, attached to three of the tracks. American Songwriter reached out to ASCAP for comment.
