Did Drake Just Reveal the ‘For All The Dogs’ Release Date?

Last night (September 5), Drake performed the first night of a back-to-back in Glendale, Arizona for his and 21 Savage’s It’s All A Blur Tour. After the show, the Toronto chart-topper uploaded a photo to his Instagram story, which shows him backstage with members of his crew including NBA star Devin Booker. What’s most notable about the picture, though, is Drake’s hair clips, which include the numbers 9, 2, and 2.

Soon after the story went up, fans connected the dots and realized Drake could be alluding to the date September 22, which is written out as 9/22. With a new album on the horizon, titled For All the Dogs, Drizzy supporters now wonder if this will be the day the LP arrives, as he has yet to confirm the official release date.

This sneaky, supposed allusion by Drake comes just days after his good pal Nicki Minaj demanded he release the aforementioned LP, which he first announced in June. Likely motivated by the fact she will make a guest appearance on For All The Dogs, Minaj told Drake via Instagram live that she and her fans need the album to come ASAP.

“Drake, I’m not going to tell you one more time,” she said looking right at the camera. “The Barbz want the album! He can be Champagne Papi… I don’t care, papi, the Barbz want the motherfucking album.”

Last month, Drake fans felt duped when the highly-anticipated project was not released on August 25, after outlets like Amazon Music and Billboard confirmed that it would. Addressing the outrage at his concert that night, Drake guaranteed the wait would not be much longer.

“It’s not going to be that much longer, trust me. I’m finishing it up,” he told the crowd at his Seattle show. “You know I got shows everybody. But I promise you, For All The Dogs is on the way… I promise you, this album will be for you. I promise you it will be worth the wait.”

It has now been 12 days since this decree, and the words “release date” have still not come out of Drake’s mouth. However, if this 9/22 hint is more than just a coincidence, then that means Drake’s eighth solo album is just over two weeks away.
